Facility in Brunswick will be open for business early December

Albany, N.Y., August 24, 2015 –Albany Med EmUrgentCare, an urgent care facility staffed by emergency medicine-trained providers, today announced the soon-to-be location for a fifth facility, this time expanding into Rensselaer County.

The more than 4,500 square-foot facility will be located on Hoosick Street in Brunswick, and will be the second EmUrgentCare facility Albany Medical Center will open this year. The site will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., every day, including holidays. Current construction timelines have the site slated to be completed for an early December opening.

“Our business model allows us to provide expert service and care when patients really have no place to go than the Emergency Department,” said Stephen Hassett, MD, Chief of Albany Med’s Division of Urgent Care and Community Outreach. “We’ve streamlined our operation in such a way that our average total visit is less than half an hour, it’s less expensive than the ED, and your primary care doctor will be completely informed of the care you received while you were with us.”

“Between our existing four sites, we will likely serve more than 50,000 patients this year,” said Ferdinand Venditti, M.D., Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs at Albany Medical Center and President of the Albany Med Faculty Physicians Group. “That statistic shows us that these facilities are not only needed, but the service is also well-received by the community.”

Providers at the Brunswick location will offer treatment for common ailments including ear, sinus and throat infections, asthma, cuts and lacerations, tick and other insect bites, rashes and any other seasonal ailments. In addition, digital x-ray capabilities on-site will help medical providers diagnose sprains and fractures.

Occupational medicine services will be provided to local employers with the focus on getting employees back to work in good health.

Albany Med EmUrgentCare has four additional locations throughout the region, on Wolf Road in Colonie, US Route 9W in Coxsackie, another off Route 50 in Glenville in the new Socha Plaza and on US-Route 9W in Saugerties.
