Albany, N.Y., May 29, 2015 –Albany Med EmUrgentCare, an urgent care facility staffed by emergency-medicine trained providers who coordinate care with Albany Medical Center specialists, today celebrated the completion of a new location at Hannaford Plaza on Wolf Road in Colonie, its first location in Albany County.

At a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by officials from Albany County and the town of Colonie, Albany Medical Center officials noted that this facility, which opens June 1, will offer a unique level of care in the area.

“Albany Med EmUrgentCare is known not only for the high quality care provided, but for the unmatched efficiency with which that medical care is delivered,” said Stephen Hassett, MD, Chief of Albany Med’s Division of Urgent Care and Community Outreach. “Our average visit is less than 30 minutes. That’s only possible because our staff is taught to value the patient’s time and trained to quickly identify and manage all types of urgent situations.”

Albany County Executive Dan McCoy, Colonie Town Supervisor Paula Mahan, and Albany-Colonie Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Eagan cut the ribbon on the 4,500 square-foot facility, which will begin accepting patients Monday, June 1.   The site will be open from 9 AM to 9 PM every day, including holidays.

“Our expansion of Albany Med EmUrgentCare to Wolf Road and the town of Colonie supports our mission of bringing the high-quality care that our physicians provide every day at the Medical Center to the surrounding communities, especially when and where patients need it most,” said Ferdinand Venditti, M.D., Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs at Albany Medical Center and President of the Albany Med Faculty Physicians Group.

The new walk-in medical care facility, located in the old Calico Corners suite, boasts eight examination rooms, including an oversized, pediatric examination room to accommodate larger families, one procedure room, an eye-examination room and a digital x-ray suite.

In addition to offering treatment for common ailments including ear, sinus and throat infections, asthma, cuts and lacerations, tick and other insect bites, rashes and any other seasonal ailments, digital x-ray capabilities on-site help medical providers diagnose sprains and fractures.

Occupational medicine services will be provided to local employers with the focus on getting employees back to work in good health.

Albany Med EmUrgentCare has three additional locations throughout the region, one on US Route 9W in Coxsackie, another off Route 50 in Glenville in the Socha Plaza and a third on US-Route 9W in Saugerties.
